The College of DuPage is a comprehensive community college located 27

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in all
aspects of landscape maintenance including repair, demolition,
construction, installation, and care of plants, trees. hardscapes, turf
and related equipment. Assists with organizing, assigning, inspecting
work of grounds staff and provides in-field direction on projects and
tasks.
Oversees the in-field day-to-day tasks delegated or assigned by the
department supervisor or manager.
Provides detailed reports to supervisor as needed.
Assists with researching products, providing price estimates, and
obtaining supplies.
Participates in tree, plant, and turf maintenance, installation and
care.
Installs and maintains all @types of pavers and hardscapes.
Uses landscaping industry standard equipment and tools to perform assign
duties.
Mixes and applies chemical herbicides and pesticides.
Participates in snow removal operations.
Performs maintenance and repairs on college owned equipment and tools.
Coordinates daily work with end users, subcontractors, and other
facilities staff.
Occasionally performs minor cement or asphalt patching on sidewalks and
parking lots.
Erects regulatory and information signing.
Occasionally supports the work of the building maintenance staff.
Assists in irrigation system programming, maintenance and repair.
Assists in Athletic field maintenance and field preparation for games.
Occasionally maintains mowing and equipment maintenance records.
Occasionally assists the Irrigation Tech with irrigation system
programming, maintenance and repairs.
Daily outdoor trash pickup and removal.
Daily creation and completion of work orders.
Required to report to work during emergency conditions and may be
assigned to report to college personnel at a different time and location
and to perform different duties as necessary.
Annually responsible for 4 documented hours of continuous learning
through seminars, classroom training or conferences.
Performs work safely in accordance with facilities department safety
procedures, protocols and the College of DuPage safety program.
Completes college required training sessions.
Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work condition or
practice to supervisor.
Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
Two years of experience or a combination of equivalent education
and related experience, in professional turf maintenance or
landscaping, landscape maintenance and professional snow removal
operations required.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in required duties.
Illinois Pesticide Applicator\'s license with Turf and Right of
Way endorsement required within 6 months of hire.
Valid Illinois Driver\'s License required.
Four years of experience in professional turf maintenance, or
landscaping preferred.
Two winter seasons in professional snow removal preferred.
Experienced in grounds equipment repair preferred.
Illinois Pesticide Applicators License with Turf or Right of Way
endorsement preferred.

Working Conditions:
Knowledge of grounds equipment including: mowers, trimmers, and all
@types of vehicles, and the upkeep and repair of all equipment and tools.
Required to participate in snow operations.
Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
Must be able to bend, reach, and work on hands and knees as necessary.
Uniform appearance must be clean and in good wear.
Must wear solid soled shoes.
Usually good conditions, but could be exposed to harsh weather and long
hours in emergency situations.
