About the Opportunity:
Position Summary:**
This role is a senior level electrical engineering position within the
Life Fitness Power and Motion Controls team and is responsible for
developing motion controls including motors, generators and dc/dc
converters for consumer and commercial cardiovascular fitness equipment.
This role will mentor junior and mid-level engineers in electrical
design best-practices including worst-case analysis, precision analog
and power electronics, DFMEA, 8D Problem Solving and other skills as
applicable.

Principal Accountabilities
Define and specify electrical systems and controls for power and
motion control applications
Define and implement state of the art motion control hardware
Direct/lead engineering in concept design, schematic capture, and
circuit simulation
Lead PCB layout: floor plan, component placement, and design for EMC
Perform circuit analyses including nominal and worst-case operating
conditions and behavior, basic power dissipation, and thermal
analysis of designs to assure that product fully meets specified
requirements
Use circuit simulation tools including SPICE, LTspice, Altium, or
others to validate circuits and subsystem designs
Conduct power supply stability analysis and complete closed loop
gain/phase measurements
Work with new product teams to develop requirements for electronic
subsystems and components including: motor selection, DC/DC
converters, power electronics and controls for low power (50-500W)
motion controls, and power supplies
Design and develop validation test procedures to verify new
electronic designs
Create detailed written test/evaluation procedures for medium
complexity electronic subsystems and controls
Work with Embedded Software team to define software requirements
Work with Reliability and Test teams to specify hardware and
software requirements for new product validation
Direct engineering analysis, evaluation and debug related to new PCB
designs
Direct engineering analysis, data gathering and problem solving
related to field issues
Frequently support cross functional teams as required for service
and warranty related issues
Mentor junior level engineers throughout the design process
Skills/Capabilities
Ability to read and analyze electrical/electronic
circuits/schematics is required
Prior experience using engineering tools, e.g. oscilloscopes,
multi-meters, analyzers, power supplies, et c.
Experience using schematic design tools (an emphasis on Altium
Designer is highly preferred)
Knowledge of various motor @types and how to control them is strongly
preferred
Ability to learn and adapt to new tools, software and organizations
is a requirement
Education and Experience
BSEE + 8 years of experience is required
5+ years of experience designing analog and/or power electronics is
required
2-5 years of experience designing motor controls is preferred
Experience programming embedded controls and/or motion controls is
preferred

intended for U.S. applicants, is \$105,400.00 - \$129,200.00 annually.
The actual salary will vary based on applicant\'s education, experience,
skills, and abilities.The salary range reflected is based on a primary
work location of Franklin Park, IL and the actual salary may vary for
applicants in a different geographic location. This position is eligible
to participate in Life Fitness / Hammer Strength\'s annual Manager
Incentive Plan to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to
base salary. The amount of bonus varies based on company and individual
performance goals and is subject to the terms and conditions of the
applicable incentive plan.
