Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will work to expand the awareness about the Career
Opportunity ACHievement (COACH) Program which is a two-year cohort
designed to provide instruction in the areas of functional academic and
vocational skill development for young adults with mild to moderate
intellectual or developmental disabilities in the communities in which
COACH students reside.
Expand the awareness about the Career Opportunity ACHievement (COACH)
Program which is a two-year cohort designed to provide instruction in
the areas of functional academic and vocational skill development for
young adults with mild to moderate intellectual or developmental
disabilities in the communities in which COACH students reside.
Work with COACH staff, program coordinator, and COACH students to assess
the vocational needs and interests of the students.
Assist in planning, coordinating, executing and evaluating of on and
off-campus employment opportunities.
Represent the College and its programs and services at appropriate on
and off-campus high school and community activities and events, such as,
high school visits, college nights, community fairs and on-campus open
houses.
Provide high quality service in all interactions with students, COACH
staff, community businesses, College faculty, staff and administrators.
Provide information and advice to prospective and current students
through individual and group presentations either on or off-campus.
Assist in the development of business engagement plans, which include
specific and measurable objectives, strategies, specific target
populations, time lines, evaluation methods and budget source
identification.
Prepare reports for the Manager of the Adult Enrichment team and Program
Coordinator of Developmental Education on an as needed basis. Seek,
initiate and participate in opportunities for collaboration with other
College offices, staff, faculty, deans, committees and task forces in
planning, organizing and implementing activities for targeted
populations.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
Education Bachelor\'s or Associate\'s Degree with equivalent
years of experience required, preferably in Special Education,
Vocational Coordination, or Job Coaching.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years related experience with special education,
vocational coordination or job coaching required.
Proficiency in written and spoken English required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Demonstrated strategic planning, follow-up and organizational
skills; stamina, flexibility, strong interpersonal skills and
self-motivation required.
Previous community college experience and more than two years of
experience described above preferred.
PC with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Outlook,
Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word; fax machine, copy machine,
laptop computer and computer projector.
Must have valid Illinois driver\'s license and a vehicle to use
as needed for community visits.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to walk distances and climb stairs with promotional
materials.
Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
This position requires a background check at the college\'s expense.
Hiring Range:
Starting pay begins at \$26.50/hr. based on experience
Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
