The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County provides opportunities for

preserves, 166 miles of trails, 47 miles of rivers and streams, and 6
nature and cultural centers. We have 6 million visitors each year.

Job Summary
This position provides high-level administrative and technical
assistance necessary for the daily operations and administration of the
Law Enforcement department, specifically with training, inventory,
recordkeeping, and other administrative support tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform day-to-day administrative duties including filing, opening
and distributing mail, scanning of documents, and preparing
documents for meetings.
Utilize suite of Microsoft office software products to create,
prepare and modify a variety of reports and documents.
Compose and @type correspondence. Create and maintain recordkeeping
reports and filing systems. Assist with research and document
preparation on special projects of a sensitive nature.
Assist with the coordination of trainings, including registration,
preparation of agenda, coordination and distribution of materials,
and notification of members. Create and distribute training record
reports.
Assist with the purchasing of equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
Maintain inventory and reconcile invoicing.
Plan, support, and participate in special events and sponsorship
activities.
Assist with the police lobby: greet and provide information to the
public and other internal and external contacts regarding District
rules, policies and activities. Accept and process payments. Receive
and relay complaints in accordance with department policy, practices
and procedures.
Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits; Become
familiar with and observe all applicable safety rules, policies, and
work procedures; Follow all safety rules that pertain to the duties
performed and support all aspects of the district\'s safety and risk
management program; Keep work area clean, orderly, and free of
hazards; Immediately report all unsafe conditions and incidents.
Maintain a supportive working environment and demonstrate a desire
to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers.
Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.
High School Diploma/GED required; 1-3 years of related experience in
an administrative role; or equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience.
Successfully complete a criminal history check through the Law
Enforcement department as well as submit fingerprints for federal
and state check prior to hire date.
Ability to perform job duties with a high degree of tact and
discretion while dealing with confidential materials and actions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to maintain complete, accurate, and organized records.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish rapport and maintain effective working
relationships with the public, vendors, elected officials, and
staff.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects while
interpreting and applying complex written and verbal instructions.Schedule:Part Time, 20 hours per week, consisting of four 5-hour
days a week. Tuesday - Friday preferred.
Location:Office setting at Forest Preserve District Headquarters in
Wheaton, IL.
Starting Salary:\$20.79 - 23.39 an hour.
Eligible for performance review and possible pay increases biannually.
