Our Team (Technical Expertise and Engineering) is searching for an Instrument, Electrical, & Controls (IEC) Discipline Expertise Manager at our Houston, Tx Energy Tower location. As the Manager of the IEC Discipline Expertise group in the Technical Expertise organization, you will be instrumental in leading a group of highly skilled Electrical and Instrument & Control Lead Engineers in providing the BASF sites across the North American region with effective capital project design and implementations.

Leading Corporate Engineering Instrument & Control, and Electrical Expertise engineers in preparing Front End loading design packages, Detailed Design Services, Construction support, Electrical Safety support, and troubleshooting support.
Providing leadership to different contracting and execution strategies (EPC, Multiple lump sum, High Value Engineering (HVE), etc.) with an understanding of the respective division of work and responsibilities.
Embracing BASF CORE values and department focus areas to develop the staff, building a high-performance team by providing performance feedback, career development advice, and competency development through training. Working with Cross-disciplinary knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, process control, civil, mechanical, procurement, construction and TAR teams.
Overseeing and guiding on the development and optimization of corporate Electrical Engineering procedures, work processes, best practices, and tools.
Collaborating with and supporting other managers within Technical Expertise group, especially with the other discipline managers within the Capital Project Discipline Leads (Civil, Piping, and Mechanical).
Participating in industry organizations (i.e., NFPA, NEC, PIP, ISA), and industry standards committees.
Influencing and motivating regional and global stakeholders to adopt, implement and sustain appropriate processes related to Electrical.

Hold a BS/MS/PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation/Controls Engineering or other engineering (with related experience) with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
Have Chemical Industry experience and experience in Capital Project execution, especially in the Instrument & Control, and Electrical discipline areas.
Have strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills with ability to lead business development activities along with cross-functional teams and lead workshops.
Possess knowledge of electrical expertise (equipment and infrastructure) and/or knowledge of instrument & control expertise within industry (chemical preferred).
Have prior supervision and leadership experience working with international teams with diverse cultural backgrounds (Strongly preferred).
Have prior work experience in electrical engineering and/or instrument & controls engineering in the Chemicals, Refining or Petrochemicals industry (minimum of 10 years) (Preferred).
Possess experience in leading efforts to identify and implement electrical improvements in the Chemicals, Refining or Petrochemicals industry. Implementation of Continuous Improvement projects by analyzing production data and identifying trends (Preferred).
Have strong Customer Focus skills and Entrepreneurial mind set.
