Moog Space West is looking for a Space Vehicles System Engineer to join our
Space Vehicles team in Arvada, CO. Moog Space West specializes in passive
and active vibration suppression/load alleviation products and services,
spacecraft buses and sub-systems, spacecraft and payload structure and
propulsive accommodations, and precision motion control.
The Space Vehicles team is rapidly growing and comprises a cross-disciplinary
group of industry veterans and young talent alike. The focus is on the
development of satellite buses, Orbital Maneuvering Vehicles (OMVs),
space tugs, and more. The team is a tight-knit group of
collaboration-oriented professionals that welcome others looking to work on
multi-faceted, complex problems as a team.
The role includes the following: Analysis of Customer specifications;
Development and simulation of Bus-level system architecture and interfaces;
Component evaluation and subsystem simulation and analysis; integration and
test of the overall system, write test procedures and test plans;
Interface and leadership of the other engineering disciplines on the
development and test team.
The Candidate will be a key contributor to the analysis, conceptual
design, development, and testing of complex control hardware used on
military, commercial and/or NASA vehicles and equipment. The Space West
products arise from a common product line approach but are adapted for the
specifics of the missions and payloads so generally are unique for each
customer. Therefore, most new applications require a special, tailored
design, even though adaptation of product line designs always should be
considered where appropriate. The Candidate generally will operate as part of
a design/development team, which includes other Department engineers.
In the early stages of a new program, the project team will consult with the
customer, establish the problem statement, conceive of potential hardware
solutions to the problem, often through extensive trade studies, and then
create a successful technical proposal. This phase is critical in that it
establishes the basis for future design, and for contract negotiations.
Under the technical direction of the Engineering Manager, Section Head or
the team's lead engineer, the Candidate will then guide the evolution of
the conceptual design, technical project planning, detail design, and
development testing for the satellite vehicle. This requires some travel and
the participation in presentations to customers.
