Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Multiple Positions), Tesla, Inc., Austin, TX:
Design and develop technically complex processes to deliver quality and efficient production yield, including process development, specification and validation, and establishment and optimization of process parameters. Work closely with internal cross-functional teams, external vendors and technology partners on process development from concept proto@type phase to production introduction. Lead product design for manufacturability and sustainability including: GDandT analyses, DOEs, Development of FMEA/PFMEA, and critical-to-quality parameters. Develop specifications for preventative and detection methods. Process testing and validation. Document product requirements for equipment specification. Process development for early concept and early proto@type production through to start of production. Technology research and development in design and manufacturing. Process invention, development, trials, and testing that shape the design of the product. Process release through detailed manufacturing instructions, workstation and line layouts, product trials, and proto@type production
management Factory design, layout, and simulation for: Line balancing, Capacity simulation and modeling, Part and assembly presentation, Specification of hand tools for manual assembly tasks, Data systems, Yield studies, and Product launch and process validation. Draft qualification protocols and manage process qualification activities. Lead and provide process validation/qualification documentation. Utilize statistical tools (such as GRandR, SPC and Cp/pCk) to ensure processes/fixtures are performing. Coordination with other process, equipment, mechanical, electrical and support disciplines including project managers, manufacturing reps, and other stakeholders.
Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field, and 2 years of work experience in a technology-based industry using automated assembly techniques.
Must have 2 years of Industrial Engineering experience working in high-volume assembly processes.
Must have 1 year of experience with new product introduction and Manufacturing Operations.
Must have 1 year of experience in GDandT principles.
Must have 1 year of experience with one or a combination of Catia or NX or SolidWorks CAD and/or ProE.
Must have 1 year of experience in development and deployment of PFMEAs.
Must have 1 year of experience with automated equipment systems and tools, including one or a combination of robotic, vision, material handling, Conveyors, PLC, and/or HMI.
Requires domestic travel up to 15% and international travel up to 10%, in order to support product launches.
