Horner Industrial Group is seeking a Full Time Winding Supervisor for their Indianapolis, IN location. The Winding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the winding operations within the manufacturing facility. Ensuring the production of high-quality random/form wound Stators, DC armatures and shunt field coils in accordance with Horner specifications and safety standards. This role involves supervising and mentoring a team of winders, managing daily schedules, promoting efficiency, enforcing quality control, and promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
Strong knowledge and hands on experience of AC / DC electric motors, generators, armatures, rotors, magnet and brake coils and related electrical components. Brazing, soldering and welding of copper, aluminum, steel, etc. will be required. This is a working position so daily winding is required.
Job Functions:
Reviewing all inspection documentation to ensure complete and accurate. Similarly, responsible for the final inspection of all windings to ensure they meet customer requirements
Monitor equipment and processes to identify potential problems and perform or coordinate necessary repairs or adjustments.
Coordinates the activities of personnel in the Winding area utilizing them to fulfill production requirements received from upper management.
Responsible for ensuring the timely manufacture of coils, coil packages and all required insulation meeting productivity requirements.
Collaborate with engineering and maintenance departments to improve production processes and resolve technical and/or equipment issues (cut-off saw, burn-off ovens, curing ovens, VPI system, etc.).
Responsible for the good housekeeping of the Winding area
Train and mentor new and existing employees in winding techniques, machine operation, and safety procedures
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of all winding technicians within the winding department.
Ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
Coordinate with purchasing to maintain appropriate stock in wire, winding supplies and materials; identify and order job specific materials as needed.
Provide remote customer support for on-site troubleshooting
Collaborate with Horner satellite divisions to accommodate balance of workload and capabilities
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical school or associate degree preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in winding operations, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Proficiency with computer relative software; Microsoft Office, Word, Excell, Outlook, & ERP systems
Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 procedures.
Convert internal winding data as applicable per EASA guidelines
Strong understanding of coil winding, motor/transformer assembly, and related equipment.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement processes.
