The Office of the Minnesota Attorney General is currently seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant in the Health and Teacher Licensing Division at our Town Square Tower office location. Specifically, this position will support attorneys, paralegals, and investigators as directed by the supervisor.
The work includes but is not limited to preparing legal documents and briefs, e-filing, filing, serving legal documents, opening and closing files, retaining records, and occasionally transcribing documents.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work environment after successful completion of onboarding and training.
Minimum Qualifications
Legal administrative assistant experience or training that demonstrates the following skills and abilities:
Skill in:
Using legal terminology and procedures sufficient to draft documents and correspondence
Preparing and processing legal papers and correspondence
Organizing and maintaining law libraries, documents, and case files
Word processing sufficient to @type, format, edit, and finalize legal documents and other written materials, ensuring they are properly formatted, grammatically correct, and error-free
Data entry sufficient to maintain accurate records and reports
Customer service sufficient to respectfully engage with clients, coworkers, and customers, when handling difficult or complex problems and resolving escalated complaints or disputes
Ability to:
create, file, retrieve, and destroy electronic records according to retention data schedules
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of a legal secretary, legal administrative assistant, or related post-secondary training program or certification; OR two or more years as a legal secretary or legal administrative assistant.
Skill in data entry sufficient to:
Locate, identify, and correct data entry errors
Receive and review source documents, compare documents to database information, and edit documents
Knowledge of e-filing procedures in various courts
Physical Requirements
Ability to:
Use a keyboard for extended period of time which may include repetitive motion
Maintain stationary position for prolonged period of the day
