Job Title: Software Safety Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Manager to lead our safety management processes, ensuring compliance with DO-178C DAL A standards. This role involves managing safety plans, overseeing software development processes, conducting risk analysis, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. You will also prepare for audits, provide training on safety standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Please note that this is a review, audit, and advisory role, not a hands-on software development position.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage safety plans ensuring compliance with DO-178C DAL A standards.
Oversee software development processes, code hardening, verification, and validation.
Conduct thorough safety assessments, hazard analyses, and risk mitigation.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for safety plans, processes, and compliance activities.
Prepare for and support internal and external compliance audits.
Provide guidance and training on DO-178C standards and safety practices.
Implement best practices for process improvements in safety and reliability.
Communicate safety objectives and requirements effectively with cross-functional teams.
Investigate safety incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 7 years in software development, with at least 5 years focused on safety-critical systems and DO-178C compliance.
Deep understanding of DO-178C standards, particularly for DAL A certification.
Familiarity with related standards, code analysis, waterfall methodology, agile, RTOS, and coverage analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Relevant certifications (e.g., DO-178C, FAA DER) are highly desirable.
Knowledge of requirements management, verification, and requirement testing.
Understanding of structural coverage analysis (code and architecture).
Knowledge of tool qualification.
Willingness to dig in at the RTOS, BSP, library level.
Work Environment
This position is remote, allowing flexibility and the ability to work from anywhere.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $70.00/hr.
