About The Role
The energy landscape is evolving rapidly, and buyers are looking for solutions to solve their biggest energy problems. Torus is looking for a
Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our growing team in South Salt Lake to help industry solve these challenges. As an early hire on our sales team, you’ll play a critical role in building the foundation for our future success. This role is perfect for someone eager to break into technical sales in the energy industry. If you aren’t an expert in energy, the grid, battery storage, etc., no worries. You’ll have opportunities to learn from industry experts building our products right here in Utah.
Your primary focus will be outreach and pipeline generation—identifying, engaging, and setting qualified meetings with key decision-makers. You’ll use a mix of cold calls, emails, and LinkedIn to generate interest and book discovery calls for our sales team. Success in this role means being persistent, curious, and coachable while thriving in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities
- Prospecting & Outreach – Conduct outbound outreach via cold calls, emails, LinkedIn, and any other creative methods you come up with, to generate interest and schedule meetings with potential customers.
- Qualify Leads – Identify key customer needs and decision-makers to assess their fit for Torus’ energy storage solutions before passing them to the sales team.
- Set Meetings – Own the top of the sales funnel by booking high-quality discovery calls for Account Executives.
- Manage & Track Activity – Maintain accurate records of outreach efforts, conversations, and pipeline activity in the company’s CRM (HubSpot).
- Optimize & Iterate – Test messaging, refine outreach strategies, and provide feedback to improve the SDR processes.
- Collaborate & Grow – Work closely with sales and marketing orgs to refine lead generation strategies and contribute to a fast-scaling team.
Required Experience And Skills
- 1+ year of sales, business development, or customer-facing experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills – confident on the phone, clear in emails, and able to engage decision-makers effectively.
- Motivated and resilient – adaptable to and leverages rejections as an opportunity to learn.
- Ability to learn quickly – open to coaching and feedback in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
- Organized and process-driven – able to manage a pipeline, track activity, and consistently follow up.
- Passion for clean energy, technology, or B2B sales – no deep industry knowledge required, but curiosity and drive to learn are crucial for success in this role.
- Adaptability – as part of a startup, being highly adaptable is crucial.
Preferred Experience
- Experience/knowledge in the commercial & industrial energy energy space.
- Experience using ZoomInfo or similar lead generation tools preferred.

Background Check All candidates are subject to a background check.
Location + Travel The role is fully remote based in the United States from your home office. Estimated travel ~5%.
Compensation $60,000 - 90,000 DOE (Note: We have the flexibility to hire at different levels, which may impact the corresponding pay range.)
Work Authorization Applicants must already have the legal authorization to work in the US without requiring any employer sponsorship.
