GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position (approximately 19 hours per week, less than 1,000 hours per fiscal year) working under the direction of the Public Health Preparedness (PHP) Coordinator in coordination with the Medical Reserve Corps Coordinator. Funding for this position is from grant programs and is subject to appropriations and will expire at the end of the grant term (May 2025). Work involves assisting the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Coordinator in collaboration with Health Department staff, state and local governmental officials and agencies, school districts, volunteer and community organizations, healthcare providers and the general public. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruitment of volunteers, coordination with local healthcare coalitions, designing of MRC resources, assisting with MRC meetings and trainings, and programmatic reporting. EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:
Schedules recruitment opportunities with local organizations and recruits volunteers from the general public.
Communicates with PHEP program staff at Region and State levels for guidance and compliance.
Assists with coordination with local healthcare and healthcare coalitions for the recruitment of MRC volunteers.
Designs MRC recruitment resources to include coordination of purchases of advertising and educational resources.
Assists with preparations for MRC meetings and training and complete reporting requirements for such meetings.
Participates in training opportunities to meet learning needs in this position.
Responds in emergency situations which may include a temporarily irregular work schedule.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Works indoors with occasional work outdoors. Ability to walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary. May be exposed to electrical, mechanical or chemical hazards when operating/ maintaining office equipment and potentials risk of exposure to communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens. May be required to lift up to 30 pounds.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS:
Frequent contact with MRC volunteers, employees, healthcare providers and staff, City and State Officials in person and by telephone.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Experience in emergency management, program management, and volunteer coordination is preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Valid Texas Driver License. Obtain IS-100, 200, 700, and 800 NIMS certificates within 6 months of hire.
