Electrical Designer III
Location:Greenwood Village, CO
CLP Engineering (CLPE) is a full-service electric utility solutions
engineering firm with more than twenty years' experience in electrical
utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our
sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power
system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative,
government, industrial, and commercial customers.
We're seeking an experienced Electrical Designer III to develop,
prepare, check and coordinate designs and drawings needed for plant
electrical systems. This is a collaborative position where you'll be an
active Contributor on our engineering team!
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop accurate designs complying with recognized drafting standards,
company practices, policies and procedures.
Prepare and oversee electrical power system design including single-line
diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams.
Develop plans, elevations and sections of various electrical systems,
inclusive of below ground and above ground designs.
Substation design is a key responsibility.
Perform conduit and cable sizing calculations, ground grid layouts, and
details.
Create bill of materials (BOMs) for all components associated with the
various electrical system designs.
Ability to prepare as-built drawings from red-line copies.
Assist with complete design checks to assure applicable codes, standards,
design/drafting standards, and technical accuracy have been incorporated.
Ability to interface successfully with the customer to provide technical
support and integrate designs as required.
Exercise independent judgment to develop designs with minimal direction and
may concurrently support multiple projects.

Skills and Qualifications:
Associate degree in drafting, engineering technology or related field
preferred.
Five to seven (5-7) years of experience in the design of electrical
systems required.
Previous drafting or design experience in the power industry (distribution
systems and/or substations) preferred.
Experience with cable tray/conduit layouts, lighting design and grounding.
Ability to perform calculations to document design decisions.
Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.
Ability to understand and verify applicable electrical design criteria,
familiar with construction industry standards.
Must have working technical knowledge of other discipline interfaces.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
You must be a US Citizen.
You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
Valid driver's license is required.
Benefits & Compensation:
We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance,
dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid
time off and paid holidays.
Hourly payrate range: $35.00-$45.00 based on experience plus eligible
for participation in Short Term Incentive Plan.
