About the role
Ramp is looking for a Financial Systems Analyst to support our accounting team as their go-to data and system design partner. This is a highly technical role and domain specific role where you'll own the data and systems workstreams that power core accounting processes like the month-end close and annual audit. You’ll help ensure the team has the right data, at the right level of accuracy and granularity, to move quickly and confidently.
The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of technical data skills and accounting expertise, likely through applied experience (a CPA or direct accounting experience is a major plus). You’ll apply that combination daily to answer complex questions, resolve issues, and proactively improve our systems.
In addition to supporting day-to-day accounting operations, you’ll play a key role in helping the team identify opportunities for process improvement and inform long-term systems strategy. You’ll also serve as a connector between finance, product, and engineering to help translate product behavior into robust, auditable accounting treatments.
You’ll work closely with the product and engineering teams that are rapidly iterating on how to leverage AI across our finance organization. This role offers the opportunity to deepen your understanding of AI and contribute to the development of ideas and solutions—ranging from tools that empower accountants to work more efficiently to seeding more advanced, AI-driven capabilities.
What you'll do
Be the key cross-functional partner to our accounting team, translating Ramp’s data-rich product suite into digestible requirements in support of all of our accounting and audit-related workstreams
Own and deliver the data and corresponding analysis needed to support the accounting team’s month-end close, audit, and reconciliation processes
Write SQL and leverage notebook tools like Hex to translate accounting needs into accurate, structured outputs using Ramp’s core data models
Manage intake and prioritization of data requests, providing clear visibility into progress and status across stakeholders
Partner with product teams to understand product behavior and to translate behavior into accounting treatments informed by the technical accounting team
Identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement in accounting workflows and data infrastructure
Act as a key stakeholder in shaping internal tooling and self-service workflows by clearly articulating accounting problem spaces
Collaborate cross-functionally to stay ahead of product or business changes that could impact financial reporting
Act as the administrator for 3rd party financial systems like Netsuite and FloQast, working closely with the Financial Systems product and engineering teams
Partner with centralized analytics and data engineering teams to ensure accounting data models align with broader infrastructure and can be scaled or productionalized over time
What you'll need
Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting/financial systems/data analysis domain
Strong knowledge of SQL (preferably Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery), and comfort working with large, sometimes ambiguous datasets
Familiarity with BI tools (preferably Looker, Mode, Tableau or equivalent) and experience distributing data insights via reports and dashboards
Strong understanding and applied experience of accounting principles
Familiarity with financial systems such as Netsuite or equivalent ERP, and Floqast or equivalent
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and reasoning skills; ability to break down ambiguous problems into clear analytical paths
Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple requests in a fast-moving environment
Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and accounting domains
Background in high-growth or fast-paced startup environments
Experience in fintech or related domains dealing with complex financial products and money movement
Strong product mindset: ability to understand the ‘why’ behind requests and proactively seek out ways to improve processes, not just complete tasks
Experience collaborating with centralized data or analytics teams to build maintainable, scalable solutions
Nice-to-Haves
Interest or applied experience in using AI to drive efficiency in financial processes
Prior experience working with product or engineering teams to support accounting needs
Experience with the modern data stack (Fivetran / Snowflake / dbt / Looker / Hightouch or equivalents)
(Bonus nice to have) Experience with Python for data analysis or automation
(Bonus nice to have) CPA or equivalent certification

100% medical, dental & vision insurance coverage for you
