Job Summary:
Act as a point of contact and respond to calls for assistance and potential
emergency needs by District employees, students and the public on Harrison
School District property. Conduct comprehensive proactive and responsive
patrols of District campuses and other property to help ensure safety and
security of students, staff, and visitors; and to help ensure the
security of buildings and property. This position requires the ability to
verbally deescalate confrontation and utilize training and best practices to
respond to a variety of situations. This position's work schedule is Monday
thru Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and includes holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Patrol exterior and interior of facilities, monitoring the safety and
security of staff, students, visitors and property.
Observe and report criminal violations, take appropriate action (as
defined in policy guidelines), and/or school rule violations reported to
school's administrator.
Monitor surveillance cameras.
Respond to fire and burglar alarms.
Escort unwanted visitors off campus.
Prepare safety and security daily logs and incident reports.
Provide security for after-school events.
Communicate with law enforcement and school/district administrators.
Deliver emergency messages.
Escort staff members to cars at night.
Provide on-call support in emergencies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
0 - 2 years' experience in military, law enforcement, or security.
Skills, Knowledge, & Equipment:
Basic communication skills.
Operating knowledge of portable radio/base station, video equipment,
preferred at hire.
Ability to follow District, building, and department policies;
communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people
from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds; and recognize the
importance of safety in workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work
habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions
to appropriate administrator.
Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:
Security or military police training preferred as well as a Colorado
Driver's License required for hire with good driving record.
Tactical Critical Care, CPR, AED, and CPI certification must be obtained
within three months of hire.
Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
