Job Title: Electrical Distribution Project EngineerJob Description
As an Electrical Distribution Project Engineer, you will join a rapidly growing team and take your career to the next level. You will leverage your expertise in overhead and underground distribution line design to independently manage complex projects, while also directing, mentoring, training, and supervising less-experienced Engineers in Training (EITs) and designers.
Responsibilities
Prepare all technical aspects and deliverables associated with the conceptual and detailed design of overhead and underground electric power distribution systems, distribution system planning, lighting design, grounding, and lightning protection.
Coordinate the preparation of construction packages for overhead and underground distribution lines, including plan and profile drawings, structure assemblies and details, stringing charts, staking tables, bills of material, and other applicable details.
Assign tasks and provide guidance to junior team members and coordinate quality control reviews for work performed by EITs and designers.
Identify and implement learning opportunities for EITs and designers through job shadowing, assigning specific project tasks, 'show and tell' sessions, lunch and learns, and general knowledge sharing.
Perform quality control reviews of projects from other teams as needed.
Provide engineering input on specific project design issues and questions.
Conduct engineering analyses to develop design options.
Assist with the preparation of cost estimates or specifications.
Attend client stakeholder meetings and lead design reviews with the client.
Provide input to the development of project man-hour estimates and task schedules.
Effectively manage multiple tasks for multiple projects while being mindful of schedules and budgets.
Perform site visits during the design, construction, and as-built phases of projects, including participating in field reviews or construction observation.
Work independently on electrical clearance calculations, lighting photometric calculations, electrical load calculations, short circuit, overcurrent coordination, and arc flash studies.
Collaborate with others within the group on technical report writing.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (e.g., PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit)

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of experience in distribution planning, distribution modeling, distribution coordination, and distribution line design
Experience performing structural analysis, plan and profile preparation, line optimization, preparing specifications and drawings, and other engineering documents required for overhead and underground line projects
Experience using PLS-CADD and other design software
Minimum 4 years of experience performing aspects associated with overhead and underground electrical distribution system analysis and design, lighting design, distribution field staking, joint-use field review and design, and knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)
Experience with electrical and planning analysis software (e.g., CYMCAP, ETAP, Polywater Pull Planner)
Experience with design tools for pole loading analysis (e.g., O-calc, SpidaCalc, Pole Foreman)
Experience using CAD software packages for Electrical Distribution (e.g., PLS-CADD, MicroStation, AutoCAD, ArcGIS)
Experience performing aspects associated with electrical distribution modeling and planning, distribution coordination, developing construction work plans, developing long-range plans, distribution line design and staking, National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) knowledge, and low voltage lighting design
Strong client relationship skills
Work Environment
You will work both independently and collaboratively within a team, ensuring quality control and mentoring junior team members. The role involves site visits during different project phases, including design, construction, and as-built phases. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring effective management of multiple tasks across various projects. Standard work hours apply, with occasional adjustments based on project needs. Dress code is business casual, with appropriate attire required for site visits.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.86/hr.
