The City of Wilmington, a top Delaware employer, has a Department of
Finance that oversees many financial functions, including maintaining
the City\'s financial records, billing and collecting amounts due to the
City, procurement, the budget, and various administrative services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\
The Assistant revenue Audit Agent is responsible for the administrative
and operational functions of all revenue and customer service divisions
within the department, overseeing the billing and collection of all city
revenue and directly supervising respective employees. This position
reports to the tax Manager. Additional responsibilities include:\
Answers customer telephone inquiries and relays information to the Wage
Tax staff, third-party CPA firms, and counsel.\
Completes preliminary billing checklists for each audit, verifying
deficiencies, state matching, head tax, wage tax, business licenses, and
residency.\
Processes bill letters and details using Excel and Access databases, in
addition to Cognos and Power BI, and follows up with final assessment
bill letters.\
Processes adjustments: write-up payment slips for all settled accounts.\
Processes W2 information; reconciles accounts; resolves discrepancies.\
Enters corrections, adjustments, and maintenance information as
required.\
Sorts, opens, and distributes daily mail and processes returned mail for
the Wage Tax Division.\
Files and assists other employees, third-party CPAs, and counsel.\
Performs all related work as required.
CANDIDATE EVALUATION\
Evaluation for this position includes reviewing the application
materials, certifying qualified applicants, and conducting a panel
interview (in-person or virtual).
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\
All selected applicants must pass a criminal background investigation
and have a pre-employment physical.\
Physical Requirements: Able to sit, stand, and lift up to 25 lbs.\
Vision: Ability to focus vision up close and at distances and works at a
computer viewing a screen.\
Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an office environment
with low noise levels.\
Location: Work hours are Monday to Friday and range between 8:30 am -
