Education and Training
High school diploma or GED (required for most positions).
Completion of an HVAC certificate or associate degree program from a trade school, technical school, or community college (preferred, but not required).

Certifications and Licensing
EPA Section 608 Certification (Required for handling refrigerants).
NATE (North American Technician Excellence) Certification (Optional).
Additional certifications, such as R-410A Safety Certification or OSHA Safety Certification, may be beneficial.

Technical Skills and Knowledge
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Understanding of HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting.
Experience with HVAC tools such as multimeters, vacuum pumps, and gauges.
Familiarity with different refrigerants and safe handling procedures.

Experience
On-the-job training or apprenticeship (typically 2-5 years).
Prior experience in HVAC service, repair, or installation.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and in teams.
Physical stamina and ability to work in various environments (heights, tight spaces, extreme temperatures).
Occupational License/Certification:
