America\'s Central Port District is seeking a full-time Maintenance
Technician to join our maintenance department. The position\'s primary
focus is expected to be responding to Work Orders and Make Readies for
River\'s Edge Apartments, a 193-unit apartment complex in Granite City,
Illinois, and for the Port\'s commercial/industrial properties.
Job Duties
Performs a variety of work tasks, including:
Basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial,
commercial, and residential buildings and other facilities,
including work on call, as needed;
Maintenance and care of grounds/landscaping, roads, rail track,
underground water/sewer lines, and other infrastructure;
Operation, care, cleaning and storage of equipment and tools;
Extensive physical activity, including seasonal work associated with
land and property maintenance such as snow removal, tree removal,
landscaping and manual labor;
Operation of large equipment (eg: bobcat, attachments, and backhoe);
and
All other duties as assigned.
Applicant Requirements
Demonstrates competency in all housing maintenance fields, carpentry,
HVAC, and one or more of the following additional construction fields:
electrical, plumbing, or mechanical. Demonstrates initiative and a
strong desire to learn. Exercises independent judgment. Requires daily
performance of physical activity and labor.
Requires general knowledge in the carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, concrete
forming/finishing, painting, roofing, flooring, and electrical trades.
Requires a minimum of 5 year of relevant work experience with
increasingly responsible performance. Must have obtained a high school
diploma or GED. Must have or obtain an EPA Section 608 Type 2 HVAC
certification within 90 days of employment. General knowledge of
dry-pipe fire sprinkler systems a plus. Education in any of the skilled
trades is recommended.
