Perform software calibration of eDrive ECU's as part of vehicle controls architecture with deep integration of subsystems (e.g., batteries mgmt., auxiliaries mgmt., brake control); Review, comment on Customer Technical Requirements & Specifications related to controls/software/calibration in ePowertrain application activities; Support customer requests for controls documentation & data as part of engineering release; Develop controls engineering timelines, maintain issues lists on software topics; Oversee software product cycle (e.g., customer functional development, software development, calibration, proto@type support, s/w validation, engineering release, assembly plant support, field troubleshooting); Represent ZF through software product development programs & provide guidance for technical issues; Technical liaison to customer for software functional changes & change +management; Lead software program deliveries by tracking action items, calibration program timing, & software/calibration releases; Lead customer calibration analysis; Troubleshoot customer issues, ensuring calibration & testing for root cause resolution; Initiate, complete parameterization of subsystems & functions in vehicle environment & test laboratory; Plan, monitor actions of customer complaints, software bugs & function enhancements; Root cause analysis & error correction of system-level problems relating to software & electronic control issues; Communicate plans & results to all levels of stakeholders; Participate in continuous-improvement activities; and Maintain, design, develop, and document software tools to support product development process. A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available. Position requires up to 25-30% travel (per year) to Germany for product training.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering (any), or related field, plus 3 years of experience in engineering (or closely related) occupations for systems, product development, or testing/validation, and demonstrated experience with: Powertrain propulsion products, including ePowertrain (central electric drives and wheel/axle electric drives), conventional powertrain (ICE, Transmission Systems), and components such as electric motor, inverter, sensors and actuators design and operation modes, mechanical and electrical interfaces, and associated vehicle interactions; Automotive communication links, protocols (including SAE J1939); signal specifications, diagnosis and repair, and associated vehicle electronic control device interactions; eDrive / Conventional Powertrain control software (e.g. CIC++) and software models (e.g. Matlab and Simulink); Dataloggers and development tools, (e.g., CANalyzer, CANApe, INCA); Vehicle dynamics, such as starting off, driving, accelerating, braking, stopping, shifting gears interactions, etc.; Commissioning and testing of electric or conventional powertrain managed by a control module (ECU); Performing tests (e.g. Powertrain, communication protocols, control software or software models) in vehicle, test cell, or simulation environment; Evaluating driving situation data and signals relevant for a given situation; Developing conclusions and proposing improvements through calibration or software modifications; Optimizing calibration functionalities (parametrization).
