Electric Instrumentation and Control Supervisor
Colorado Springs Utilities is hiring an Electric Instrumentation and Control Supervisor to support water treatment operations while leading a team of EI&C professionals responsible for supporting our six water treatment plants. You will oversee the installation, maintenance, programming, calibration, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of EI&C systems and equipment. A day in the life of an Electric Instrumentation and Control Supervisor may include:
Leading EI&C staff in ways that drive trust, engagement, performance, and professional growth
Overseeing the performance of EI&C systems and equipment including pressure, magnetic flow and radar level transmitters, electric and pneumatic activators and positioners, communications equipment, programmable logic controllers (PLC), distributed control systems (DCS), and human machine interfaces (HMI) with emphasis on Allen-Bradley and Emerson DeltaV control systems
Overseeing electrical work including the installation of motor control centers, variable frequency drives, conduit, wire, and other electrical components
Developing and executing short and long-term goals, performance plans and forecasting, and monitoring and directing activities to meet changing operations, service conditions, and requirements within water treatment
Managing staff and resources to respond to system irregularities, failures, alarms, or emergencies to ensure continued operation of critical systems
Overseeing the design and integration of interfaces from new systems into existing controls
Enhancing and implementing workforce development strategies and programs such as apprenticeship training, on-the-job training, and resource sharing
Developing and administering an EI&C budget while considering operational and maintenance priorities and associated expenditures, forecasting resource needs, and preparing specifications for staff, contractors, equipment, and materials
Providing research, recommendations, and technical advice to and coordinating and collaborating with plant and engineering staff to ensure optimal operation of EI&C systems
Using and enhancing work management processes to aid with planning, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling tasks and projects Please note that this job requires the successful candidate to work standby and overtime as business needs dictate to provide 24/7/365 coverage for the plants. A valid, unrestricted driver's license is required for this role
Who You Are:
Leadership experience is valued - or the ability to lead others in ways that drive performance, trust, engagement, and developmentExperience with and knowledge of electrical and/or instrumentation and control systems and equipment
Experience with troubleshooting, designing, repairing, and calibrating relevant analog/digital instruments, measurement, and control devices and working on and installing related electrical equipment for water supply and/or water treatment systems, wastewater treatment systems, power generation systems, and/or natural gas plant systems
Highly Qualified candidates will have an associate's degree in Electrical or Electronics Technology, or a related field, OR completion of a certified electric or instrumentation and control apprenticeship and/or a Journeyman Electrical License and Colorado Water or Wastewater Treatment Operator Certifications
Commitment to and personal responsibility for workplace safety
Ability to manage and resolve complex problems and conflicts, collaborate, communicate, and remove barriers to effective teamwork
