Job Summary:
The Weed Control Coordinator is responsible for protecting the assigned areas in Fergus County from the degrading impact of exotic and invasive noxious weeds by implementing sound policies and procedures integrating chemical applications, educating the public to handle weeds on private land, mowing, bio-control, and reseeding disturbed roadsides. This includes performing administrative, supervisory and technical duties in support of the operation of Fergus County weed control program and ensuring that weed sprayers properly apply herbicides and pesticides in accordance with Federal, State, and County laws.
Education and Experience:
A high school or equivalent diploma.
Two (2) years experience in weed management activities including application of integrated weed control tools (biological, cultural, and chemical methods are a plus.) Education may be substituted for experience.
Additional classes in agriculture, plant biology, herbicide safety and handling, and related fields preferred. (degree in ranching or agricultural sciences are a plus.)
Agricultural background preferred.

Ability to drive all spray trucks
Ability to drive ATV equipment
Ability to repair gas engines
Ability to operate a hand spray gun
Ability to operate an electrical manual pump
Ability to operate a 2-way radio
Ability to carry heavy objects

4-wheel drive vehicles (standard and/or automatic transmissions)
2-ton truck
ATV
Spraying equipment
2-way radio
GPS programs
Any specially purchased equipment by Fergus County to be used in weed control.
