Position: Admissions Clerk
Location: Chicago, IL
Pay Rate : $20/hour
Schedule:
Full time
12:00am - 8:30am M-F
Weekend Requirements: Rotating weekends and rotating holidays
Duration: 3 months ( Likely Extension)
Responsibilities:
Collects and analyzes all required patient demographic, insurance, and financial data to register/pre-admit patient from all payor classes
Obtains and verifies insurance information
Updates any changes of information in the system
Maintains admission, discharge, and transfers for proximity input to monitor internal and external bed assignments
Maintains level of professionalism when working with the hospital department, physicians, and patients
Professionally answers telephone calls, makes referrals to the appropriate department or person, takes messages as needed and directs all incoming calls
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
One full year of recent experience as an Administrative Assistant or Clerk in a hospital setting
Intermediate computer skills using various software applications including Microsoft Word & Excel
Type 25 words per minute required
