Senior Electrical Technician The Sr. Electrical Technician is an integral part of the R&D team who specializes in device testing, but also carries out a wide variety of other tasks. The senior level electrical technician is distinct from lower technician levels in that they are more self-directing, able to coordinate a larger testing project and capable of running multiple projects simultaneously. The senior level electrical technician is also well rounded enough to be proficient in the performance of most @types of electrical / software testing. Responsibilities: Performs complicated and advanced tests requiring judgment in determining work methods, interpreting test results and writing clear and accurate test result reports. May build and test electrical proto@types/circuits/test fixtures, basic mechanical models and assemblies or perform difficult analysis requiring knowledge of scientific and/or laboratory techniques. Perform failure analysis and troubleshooting of proto@types, products and equipment. Work with engineers to refine test protocols and procedures. Works closely with Business Development Directors, engineers, scientists and technical managers to convert internally generated ideas into tangible proto@types useable for demonstration, assessment and evaluation. Coordinate proto@types and testing with outside shops and labs. Prepare proto@types for animal studies and testing and participate in related data collection. Design, assemble and operate custom test fixtures and equipment. Maintain an organized lab and shop. Source necessary lab equipment. Requirements: 5 plus years industrial experience as a technician in medical device, technology, or other machine shop/lab environment. Associate s degree in electrical engineering. Working knowledge of standard electrical tests and test equipment such as: voltmeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc. Working knowledge of automated test systems such as LabView. General electrical and mechanical assembly training or experience including work under the microscope. General knowledge of engineering CAD systems including schematic capture and PC layout tools. Ability to perform basic statistical analyses on test data. Must be capable of supporting animal testing including implants and terminations for GLP and non-GLP studies. Preferred: Self-motivated, works well with minimal supervision. Multi-tasking necessary. Good work history - reliable track record. Basic PC skills including Windows, Excel and Word Work Environment: Normal R&D laboratory, controlled assembly area, and clean room environments. Capability of lifting light loads. Occasional travel and driving required.
