About the RoleAre you ready to unleash your technical creativity? Dream,
Innovate, Inspire and Empower the next generation to transform humanity
through technology and imagination! Electrical engineers at Sierra Space
research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and improve cutting
edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced
mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to
orbital and space exploration systems. You'll conceptualize and design new
products and processes throughout the product lifecycle from analog and
digital electronic circuit card assemblies to fully integrated systems.
Sierra Space's Defense division focuses on the design, build, and
operations of small satellites in support of commercial services and national
security space and offers two work locations: Louisville, Colorado and
Centennial, Colorado.
As an Electrical Power Subsystem Engineer you will be using your electrical
skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test,
verify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be performing
electrical design, analysis and test of spacecraft using industry standard
/ in-house analysis software and tools. You will be able to create
innovative power design solutions for spacecraft hardware, then see your
designs come to fruition as you continue through article integration and
test; and finally, be a part of the operations for the spacecraft that you
designed, built, and tested.
Must-haves:
Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other related
discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience
Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Thorough understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret US Government security clearance
with SCI eligibility
Preferred:
Active Top Secret US Government security clearance with SCI eligibility
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
Experience with leading a technical team and providing oversight to electrical
system designs, test, and verification
Analyze and understand complex system requirements and translate them into
efficient and optimized architectures and designs
Experience in satellite electrical power systems, electrical architecture,
battery design, solar array design, power distribution, and wire harnessing
Experience with early conceptual design, development, and trade studies.
Experience with energy balance, power modeling analysis, worst-case power
loading, and simulations through functional and logical models and system
analy
Experience composing and analyzing Electrical Load Analysis (ELA),
circuit modeling, simulation, and analysis
Experience with system, subsystem, and component level requirements
definition technical risk identification and management strategies, and
Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Experience interfacing with suppliers, customers, and leadership teams
Understanding of spacecraft grounding, bonding, Electro Magnetic
Compatibility (EMC), and Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI)
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S.
Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs
an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be
eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense
Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government
agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance
eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect
the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited
to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference,
criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
