Electrical Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to plan and detail working procedures by determining replacement needs or new materials required and developing a logical approach to correct problems. The ideal candidate will analyze circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service, or replace electronic devices and systems.
Responsibilities
Receive wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions from the supervisor covering emergency and scheduled repairs, installation inspection work to be performed.
Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials, and principles of operation of electrical equipment.
Start up and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown in line with OSHA requirements.
Service electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuits, printed circuits, printed circuit boards, and similar electronic devices.
Install, repair, and maintain communication cables, power distribution systems (Switchgear), and splice pieces as required.
Fabricate parts if not commercially available, using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
Determine need for, analyze, and make necessary running adjustments, repairs, and overhauls.
Advise and caution operators and mechanics about potential electrical problems and inherent dangers involved.
Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous electrical equipment noted and corrective action taken.
Install, program, start-up, and troubleshoot PLC, DDC based control systems, such as the person 100, 500, or equivalent.
May be part of a mechanical team on major installations, working with other trades such as machinists, pipefitters, etc.
May be called upon to do temporary or long-term repairs in other areas of Plant Maintenance such as pipefitting, HVAC, boiler room, etc.
Comply with all safety policies, report safety violations, and attend safety meetings.
Report problems regarding food safety to the supervisor or manager.

Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and correspondences in English.
Ability to effectively present information in small group situations and to other employees of the organization.
Vocational school or junior technical college training as an industrial electrician.
Formal training in PLC based industrial control systems, such as the person Training School course or technical school equivalent.
5 to 8 years of experience as an industrial electrician, including 3 Phase Plant Power Distributions systems, motor theory, and PLC controls.
Experience with robotics is desirable.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $750000.00/yr.
