Reports to: Executive & Program Directors

Job Summary: The accountant is responsible for updating and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers and reports; liaison to CPA, maintain payroll for 165 + employees, employee time & attendance, petty cash; Workmen’s Comp, assist directors in Grant submissions, UPK, Enhancement budget and Reconciling monies received from NYS; Cost Centers.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting

· Well versed in Excel and QuickBooks

· Well versed in general accounting principles as it relates to school operation and functioning

· Prior accounting experience in organization of 100+ employees

Job Responsibilities:

· Meet monthly with outside CPA to review financial records, prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statements

· Complete semi-monthly payroll for 165+ employees, semi-monthly payroll for various 1099’s, set up direct deposit, employee advances, record third party sick pay, record bonuses and new hires

· Manage petty cash

· Accounts Receivable- communicate with DOE regarding payments, make bank deposits, reconcile and follow up on evaluation payments

· Workman Comp cases; Filing and following up with all paperwork

· Maintain database of employee attendance, vacation and personal days

· Assist in Grant submissions, preparing budget and end of year final report

· UPK; Prepare budget, budget modifications, mid and end of year reports and monthly invoices.

· Tracking and reconciling payments from the state and maintaining student database that coincides with the payments. Preparing FTE report at end of year.

· Maintaining a grid for teacher assistants based on their cost center

· Preparing and monthly invoicing for the Enhancement budget

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
