Organizational Relationship:

Reports to: Principals, Executive & Program Directors

Job Summary: The Bookkeeper is responsible for updating and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers and reports; liaison to CPA, maintain payroll for 165 + employees, bank reconciliations, employee time & attendance, petty cash; Benefits coordinator, short/long term disability, 401K loans, assist directors in Grant submissions, must be highly organized, computer literate, detailed oriented, have a good communication skills and must be a team player.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finances

· Well versed in Excel and QuickBooks

· Well versed in general accounting principles as it relates to school operation and functioning

· Prior accounting experience in organization of 100+ employees

Job Responsibilities:

· Meet monthly with outside CPA to review financial records, prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statements and complete quarterly online tax submissions

· Complete semi-monthly payroll for 165+ employees, semi-monthly payroll for various 1099’s, set up direct deposit, loan & 401K submissions to VOYA, wage garnishments, employee advances, record third party sick pay, record bonuses, new hires & terminations, complete employment verification reports as needed

· Record necessary Journal entries, bank reconciliations, manages petty cash

· Coordinate employee benefits-dental, COBRA, disability, profit sharing, 401K, flexible spending, voluntary life insurance, conference day reimbursements

· Accounts Payable-investigate invoices, when necessary, communicate with vendors, review expense reports, credit card & debit card reconciliation

· Accounts Receivable- communicate with DOE regarding payments, make bank deposits, reconcile and follow up on evaluation payments, keep track of rotating line of credit

· Unemployment Insurance Notice of Protests

· Prepare annual profit-sharing census for Rosenfeld & Tortu

· Prepare Department of Labor Quarterly

· Maintain database of employee attendance, vacation and personal days

· Navigate NYCDOE V Portal, NYC PIP system & VOYA OPS system

· Assist in Grant submissions

Pay: $59,379.00 - $63,402.00 per year
