Northeast Power Coordinating Council, Inc. (NPCC) is a not-for-profit corporation responsible for promoting and improving the reliability of the international, interconnected bulk electricity systems in Northeastern North America. NPCC operates as a Regional Entity under a delegation agreement from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) with responsibilities that include the development, monitoring, assessment, and enforcement of mandatory reliability standards. The Finance Associate is responsible for providing financial and administrative support in accordance with established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner. This position is responsible for performing tasks to support and assist the finance and accounting requirements of the corporation under the supervision of the VP, Finance & Treasurer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with financial analysis and reporting
- Prepare financial statements and reports
- Conduct financial research and analysis
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting
- Support the finance team in day-to-day operations
- Help maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Assist in developing and distributing financial reports and presentations in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Develop and proofread business correspondences and documents.
- Perform other ad hoc projects and duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSE CREDENTIALS
- Associate’s degree or equivalent accounting/finance related work experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/economics preferred
- Minimum of two years relevant experience in accounting/finance
FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and strong math skills.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and techniques.
- Experience working with accounting systems.
- Ability to learn quickly and provide value-added service to the organization.
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and build relationships with NPCC leadership and peers and obtain information necessary to perform job tasks.
- Strong analytical and data gathering skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills with consistent attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player collaboratively on projects with a positive attitude.
- Interest and passion to get involved in other professional experiences such as Business Development and Recruiting.
- Flexibility and openness to work on a variety of assignments and roles.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to work within the U.S. and travel to Canada.
