Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks a Signaling Functional Design Engineer to work in Pittsburgh, PA, and unanticipated locations throughout the U.S. The Signaling Functional Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering the functional design of small signaling projects (in terms of geography, number of objects, subsystems or interfaces involved) in accordance with industry and company standards. Specific duties include: (1) designing wayside interlocking circuits in accordance with established design principles, procedures, and specifications; (2) programming wayside microprocessor devices in accordance with all related rules and specifications; (3) preparing project and design documentation; (4) testing setup and testing of wayside systems, including system integration testing with carborne, office and other systems; and (5) following established design principles and procedures and specifications as detailed for proper programming of microprocessor devices.
This position is for a roving employee who will work in unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location.
Must have a bachelor's degree in Railroad Signaling; Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Information Systems plus two years of experience as a signaling engineer in or for the railway industry.
Must have experience with each of the following: (i) designing interlocking circuits; (ii) relay-based logic design; (iii) digital application logic design, including troubleshooting and debugging (MicroLok II); and (iv) developing factory and field test datasheets.
