About the Team
This role will report to the Assembly Team Lead and will work alongside a team of Mechanics, Electricians and Production Workers. The Assembly Team forms part of the greater Production team, which includes Painters, Welders, the Proto@type Shop, the Armour Shop and the Logistic Systems team. As RDA is continuing to expand, the Production team will continue to grow throughout 2025. This role will be based full time at our Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence in Redbank.
About the Role
The Assembly Mechanic is responsible for the completing mechanical build tasks for Vehicles and Subsystems to be built in the RDA production facility in Redbank (QLD). The main scope of this role is to complete the assembly tasks in first-run production in accordance with Manufacturing Instructions, Engineering Drawings, Quality Standards, and WH&S requirements. The team is looking to integrate an afternoon shift, the hours for this would be roughly 3pm to 11pm.
The general and generic duties of the Assembly Mechanic include, but are not limited to:
Complete assembly tasks for the L400 Phase 2 Boxer vehicles and other vehicles in accordance with Manufacturing Instructions, Engineering Drawings, Quality Standards, and WH&S requirements;
Rework assembly tasks include fitting protection plates, brackets and electronic subassemblies/ cables/ labels;
Vehicle build tasks include all assembly tasks in the production sequence from hull to finished vehicle - this will include both mechanical and electrical tasks;
Assist with vehicle movements within the facility in accordance with site rules and licensing requirements;
Perform crane operation and lifting tasks in accordance with safe working instructions;
Maintain the safe and efficient storage of required parts, tools and equipment in the workshop areas;
Conduct self and work in accordance with company and site specific WH&S requirements; and
Other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your manager from time to time.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
A relevant trade's qualification - Automotive Mechanic trade, Electrical trade and/or Engineering.
Ability to read and interpret production drawings, manuals, and technical documents.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to task planning and effective time management; proven ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines
A high level of self-motivation, initiative, the ability to work unsupervised and willingness to participate and contribute as part of a team.
The ability to travel interstate or overseas if necessary for short training periods (infrequent);
The ability to gain and hold the appropriate Australian Defence Security Clearance (must be an Australian citizen).
Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).

A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian Citizens to be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance required.
