Job Overview:
Successful candidate will perform a wide variety of electrical tasks including mounting panels to skids, running conduit and wire to panels and instrumentation on skids. Must be familiar with 480v, 120v and 24v power and control systems. Must be skilled in the use of hand and power tools. 2 years and above documented field experience in electrical discipline with ability to read and interpret instructions as well as be able to document, plan and perform work activities independently. Other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Performs electrical tasks such as building control and motor control panels, mounting panels to skids, running conduit and wire to panels and instrumentation on skids and termination testing.
Operates hand and power tools skillfully.
Documents, plans and performs work activities independently
Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using such tools as a hacksaw, pipe threader, rules and conduit benders.
Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by helper.
Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together and applying tape or terminal caps.
Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays and circuit- breaker panels, and fastens in place with crews or bolts using hand or power tools.
Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads.
Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer and oscilloscope.
Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation,or replacement.
Disassembles and repairs defective electrical equipment or systems.
Load, transport and unload material, tools, equipment and supplies.
Maintains and cleans tools and equipment.
Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Respiratory protection is common and may be required.
Performs other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Works well under immediate supervision.
2 or more years of experience as an industrial electrician.
Familiar with NEC and NFPA 70 E Codes.
Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
Shop schedule is: works four 10 hour shifts per week, Mon-Thurs. 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
