The Office Assistant classification encompasses positions that are generally entry level in nature and where the job duties and responsibilities are of a primarily clerical nature. The majority of the duties performed by this classification level form a "core set" of duties performed by and shared by all other positions of a clerical/secretarial nature. The core set of duties are viewed as moderately complex and involve the carrying out of assigned clerical tasks that are designed and specifically structured so as to limit the extent of decision making, discretion and judgment afforded positions at this level.
