Administrative Assistant II (Mail Distribution Specialist)This position performs routine (journey-level) administrative support work for the General Services Program, part of the Procurement and General Services Office of the Administrative Operations. Work involves processing and distributing incoming mail; operating mail equipment; preparing and processing outgoing agency mail, and incoming revenue; and greeting and assisting agency customers. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
This position: Sorts and distributes incoming USPS, overnight/ground, inter-department, inter-agency mail, and records received by the agency. Operates mailing equipment including postage meter machines, package tracking and delivery management systems, automated shipping systems, letter openers, and postage scales. Prepares and processes outgoing agency mail and shipments. Processes revenue received daily and makes appropriate entries in deposit logs. Greets and assists internal and external customers and responds to routine inquiries. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: This position requires: Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred. Additionally, this position requires one years experience in a mail services environment or administrative or clerical support work. Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Awareness Training-Level 2 Security required 30 days from date of hire. Valid Texas Driver License with a verified safe driving record.
Note: Education and experience relevant to position requirements may be substituted for one another on a year-for- year basis.

Using personal computers sufficient to enter and extract data from related systems and programs such as Centralized Accounting Payroll and Personnel (CAPPS) and other systems required to perform the job.
