Position Title: Designer I (Structural/Architectural)

Position Purpose:
Provide basic support and design services for engineering design practice to meet existing and future power generation, fuel supply, and power transmission facility needs. Uses engineering mathematics and drafting to comply with industry standards, codes, rules, and regulations. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.
Essential Functions:
Review vendor drawings to check conformance with project design intent and compliance with contract documents.
Provide quality and accuracy checks on drawings and other technical material.
Provide drafting services as assigned.
Provide in-field project analysis or basic design modifications.
Provide details for projects that require computations.
Qualifications :
Associate degree in drafting & design technology, computer-aided drafting (CAD), engineering technology, or a related construction industry program; and 4 years of related experience; or
High school diploma (or equivalent GED/HSED); and 6 years of professional drafting experience in the architectural/structural field
Understanding of engineering mathematics and its application to architectural and structural design.
Knowledge of drafting, design, fabrication, and construction processes, with a focus on industry best practices and standards.
Proficient in design software, including Autodesk products such as AutoCAD and Revit, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
Able to quickly adapt to new software and tools routinely used by BEPC and the Engineering & Construction division.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
A valid driver's license.

Occasional travel.
Must be able to analyze data/reports and conduct research; implement recommendations; develop plans, procedures, and goals; and present information to others.
Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires frequent sitting; and occasional standing/walking, bending/reaching, climbing, kneeling, crawling, use of keyboard/computer, pushing/pulling up to 60 pounds and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. This position also requires finger dexterity, hand coordination, good hearing, and color vision. The incumbent may be required to work under pressure due to conflicting priorities and deadlines. This position occasionally works in conditions of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, and confined areas. Some travel may be required, either by operating a motor vehicle or traveling in Cooperative or commercial plane.
