Chris Preble from Robert Half is working on a Human Resource Manager role for a client of his in the Ithaca area. This organization has outstanding benefits, a bonus and a 401k match. It's a strategic HR role and you'll have staff that report into you in this position.
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of HR functions, with particular focus on labor relations, staff management, and employee engagement. This role will serve as a key advisor to leadership and a resource for employees, ensuring HR practices are aligned with business goals while maintaining compliance with labor laws and fostering a respectful and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead labor relations efforts, including union negotiations (if applicable), dispute resolution, contract administration, and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with labor representatives.
Oversee HR staff.
Serve as a trusted advisor on employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
Develop and implement HR strategies and policies that promote a positive workplace culture and meet organizational goals.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor regulations, including wage and hour laws, workplace safety, and employee rights.
Partner with department heads and managers to align staffing strategies with organizational needs and facilitate effective workforce planning.
Manage compensation, benefits, and recognition programs to attract and retain top talent.
Organize and support employee engagement initiatives, training, and professional development programs.
Lead or assist in internal investigations and represent the company in labor or employment-related legal matters.
Requirements
Previous role as an HR Manager, Director or similar senior HR role
Excellent communication skills
Ability to effectively liaise with C-Suite and other senior management
Proven track record in managing Employee Relations effectively
