Summary
Responsible for performing HR generalist duties on a professional level and works closely with the HR Director and company senior management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: group benefits administration, employee relations, training, in processing, policy implementation, affirmative action and employment law compliance.
Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Performs Human Resources related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas; recruitment, employee relations, training, benefits, employment and affirmative action.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
Partners with employees and management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.
Report, maintain, follow up on open cases and monitor all Worker's Compensation Case files.
Monitor employee eligibility for medical and dental insurance. Review benefits with employees and process enrollment, cancellation or changes for medical and dental insurance. Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, and communicating benefit information to employees.
Coach, counsel and guide managers before the execution of employee disciplinary actions. Manage and track all employee disciplinary action.
Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, or other EE concerns.
Maintains Human Resource information system records and compiles reports from database. Create and maintain databases and/or spreadsheets for HR usage. (Attendance calendars, payroll spreadsheets, etc.)
Responsible for distributing, monitoring and ensuring Employee Performance Evaluations are done in a timely manner.
Represents the company for any unemployment claims.
Maintains affirmative action logs, files and information for EEO logs to conform to EEO regulations.
Assist with recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt personnel, internships, and temporary employees; conducts new employee orientations. Reviews applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job related requirements.
Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED/SPECIAL NOTES:
General knowledge of employment law and practices.
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and recordkeeping.
Effective oral and written communications.
Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
Excellent organizational skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May require long hours of sitting/computer usage.
