Aston Carter is working with a well-known company in the Kansas City area who is looking to bring on several Sr. Revenue Accounting Managers to help them for the next 9+ months. They are needing someone who has strong ASC 606/revenue recognition experience, has a CPA, and has worked for a $1 billion+ revenue size company. These roles are fully remote if living outside of the Kansas City area. There is potential these roles will be extended later on depending on how the project goes. Key Responsibilities:
Subject Matter Expertise in Complex Revenue Accounting: Independently manage and execute the most complex revenue accounting processes, applying expert-level knowledge of ASC 606 principles to intricate revenue calculations, journal entries, and reconciliations across diverse and significant revenue streams.
Advanced ASC 606 Application: Leverage deep, individual mastery of ASC 606 Revenue from Contracts with Customers, providing authoritative guidance on the identification of intricate performance obligations, the allocation of complex transaction prices, and the precise recognition of revenue for highly varied and non-standard contract @types.
Ownership of Critical Revenue Close Areas: Take full individual ownership and accountability for the timely and accurate completion of critical and complex portions of the monthly and quarterly revenue close process, ensuring adherence to ASC 606 at the highest level of rigor.
Championing SOX Compliance (Revenue Focus): Individually ensure strict adherence to SOX requirements specifically related to complex revenue accounting processes, designing and maintaining sophisticated internal controls over revenue recognition as a subject matter expert.
Driving Process Excellence in Revenue Recognition: Proactively identify, develop, and implement advanced strategies to improve and streamline complex revenue accounting processes, enhance the practical application of ASC 606, and mitigate intricate risks related to revenue recognition.
In-Depth Revenue Financial Analysis: Conduct highly detailed and sophisticated analysis of revenue-related accounts, including complex deferred revenue schedules, intricate contract asset and liability calculations, to ensure the utmost accuracy and provide expert-level insights to support critical financial decision-making.
Expert Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate as a recognized subject matter expert with various teams, including Sales Operations, Legal, FP&A, Tax, and Treasury, to ensure consistent, accurate, and best-practice application of ASC 606 across all revenue-generating activities, providing authoritative guidance and resolving complex revenue recognition challenges.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
CPA license preferred
Strong ASC 606/revenue recognition experience required
Experience working for a multi-billion dollar company required
Experience having direct reports required
SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft or similar experience required
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $105.00/hr.
