Role
As an Electrical Design Engineer within Global Engineering Design & Services (GEDS), you will support Eastman manufacturing plants by providing engineering design and equipment selection for electrical equipment and systems throughout all phases of the capital process, from concept and scope development through installation and commissioning. You will collaborate with a team of other electrical designers and other disciplines to provide subject-matter expertise on efforts within various Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and Procurement teams. This role will cover a broad range of equipment (motors, motor control centers, lighting, VFDs, UPSs, etc.) and electrical systems (wiring/cabling, grounding, breakers, power supplies, fuses, junction boxes, etc.). The role considers electrical engineering principles and best practices, applies industry codes and standards, and works with multi-disciplinary teams and contractors.
Responsibilities:
Safety:
Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal and process safety - Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to electrical engineering in the chemical industry (i.e. codes, hazardous area classification, intrinsically safe designs, NRTL equipment designations and requirements)
Capital Projects: - Serve as an electrical design engineer on large capital projects through tasks like equipment design and selection, cost management, drawing reviews and input on overall system design, cross discipline collaboration, interaction with vendors and contractors, factory acceptance testing, installation, and commissioning. - Serve as an electrical design engineer on small capital projects, installation, and commissioning
Technical Skills and Expertise: - Support electrical engineering needs for operations and maintenance through plant support and troubleshooting. - Proficiency in engineering design software and tools, such as SKM, Bluebeam, Navisworks, AVEVA Engineering or equivalent, to support electrical engineering activities and enhance project efficiency. - Provide subject-matter expertise for application and development of industry and Eastman engineering codes/standards (i.e., NFPA 70, NEC, IEEE).
Soft Skills and Management: - Ability to mentor and develop lesser experienced team members. - Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering - 5+ years relevant electrical engineering design experience; Professional Engineering (PE) License is a plus - Open to travel as needed
Travel/Off-Shift Support: - Role is based in Kingsport, TN - Some periodic travel (domestic & international) may be required - Occasional off-shift support may be required
