Description We are seeking a Housing Eligibility Assistant to join our team based in WATERVLIET, New York. This role is an integral part of our Marketing/PR industry team, where you will be primarily responsible for handling housing assistance applications, maintaining detailed records, and ensuring the smooth operation of the tenant selection process.
Responsibilities:
Accurately process applications for housing assistance, ensuring all applications meet HUD criteria.
Undertake a thorough review of potential tenants' eligibility for public housing projects and subsidized housing payments.
Make informed recommendations on the approval or rejection of tenant applications, ensuring all decisions are fair and in accordance with housing policies.
Determine the appropriate amount of housing assistance payments for eligible families, based on established guidelines.
Develop and maintain a systematic filing system for all correspondence and applications related to tenant selection and assistance payments.
Assist in the regular certification and recertification of family incomes as per the information provided on applications and documents.
Participate in the review and revision of tenant leases as needed, ensuring all changes are accurately recorded.
Provide relevant information regarding housing programs to applicants, tenants, and assistance recipients, ensuring they are fully aware of their rights and responsibilities.
Assist in the inspection of housing units being considered for program benefits, reporting any code violations and significant factors that may affect eligibility.
Contribute to the preparation of regular and special reports as required, providing accurate and timely data.
Perform administrative duties such as typing letters, memos, correspondence, and reports related to public housing programs. Requirements - Proficiency in managing accounting functions, including account maintenance and financial record keeping
Ability to handle inbound calls efficiently, providing excellent customer service and addressing client queries
Strong experience in providing administrative assistance, including data entry, scheduling, and document management
Familiarity with administrative office operations, ensuring smooth work flow and efficient office management
Proven track record in maintaining accurate account information, updating client profiles and ensuring data integrity
