Job Description
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of routine custodial practices and methods.
Knowledge of equipment, chemicals and materials used in cleaning processes.
Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
Effective planning and organizational skills.
Responsibilities include the following:
To support the physical operation of the entire school and its programs.
Inspect all buildings and facilities and initiate repairs as needed.
Move and deliver school furniture, books, inventory, etc.
Set up facilities for special events.
Complete summer building repairs, painting, projects, etc.
Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
Ensure that the equipment is in safe operating condition.
Follow safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to Head of School/Assistant Head of School immediately.
Prepare, implement and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and systems.
Compete mowing, trimming, blowing, sweeping, etc. for outdoor needs (as needed)
Work with an administrative assistant to order equipment and supplies and maintain accurate records.
Recommend replacement of existing equipment.
Conduct annual inventory of physical equipment and supplies.
Work irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
Complete on-going equipment replacement as needed and approved.
To develop, maintain and report all required environmental, health and maintenance standards as required by law and to work with the administration, to ensure compliance with all regional, state and federal regulations and laws as they impact the school.
To arrange bids and develop specifications for all work if needed.
To oversee the work of all outside contractors to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and budgetary restrictions.
To perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School/Assistant Head of School.
To support the school and its leadership.
Work Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Frequent walking, standing, climbing and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and
inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces and ladders; exposure to hot and cold
temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials.
