Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
Drive gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and school activities.
Escort small children across roads and highways.
Follow safety rules as students board and exit buses or cross streets near bus stops.
Primary Purpose:
Responsible for safe operation of school buses.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School diploma, GED or two years previous school bus driving experience
Texas CDL (Class B) with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement
TEA driver certification
Acceptable driving record
Ability to read and understand English
DOT physical/Drug screening
Pass District Physical Performance Test
AISD Special Ed Training Course (Special Ed Drivers)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrate complete physical control and operation of school buses
Facilitate student management while operating school bus
Strong communication, public relations, organizational, and interpersonal skills
