Essential Duties:
Greet new facility offender arrivals; provide offenders with facility information.
Conduct interviews. Document and maintain offender records; provide referrals as needed.
Maintain liaison between new offenders and facility staff during adjustment period to facility life.
Responsible for running criminal history detainer and warrant checks on all substance abuse felony, punishment and in prison therapeutic community offenders arriving and departing the facility.
Conduct interviews with substance abuse felony punishment offenders upon arrival into the facility to ensure proper housing assignment.
Coordinate with staff members and appropriate departments to assist in the classification process of incoming offenders.
Enter applicable data into required databases to maintain up-to-date and accurate offender records.
Promote development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from a college or university accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science, or a related field preferred.
One (1) year full- time, wage-earning clerical, secretarial, administrative support, or technical program support experience.
Each year of experience as described below more than the required one (1) year may be substituted for thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.
One (1) year full-time, wage-earning operations experience.
A valid drivers license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Must successfully complete annual background checks and in-service training requirements, both of which must be approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
