Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Smithfield, Virginia. This role plays a critical part in our organization, focusing on Fixed Assets, reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting, expense reporting, and audit preparation. You will also contribute to grant accounting and reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed reconciliations and maintain accuracy.
Manage Fixed Assets accounting and keep track of changes.
Prepare and analyze budget and forecasting reports.
Handle expense reporting, ensuring all expenses are properly recorded and justified.
Prepare for audits by organizing necessary financial information and documents.
Assist with grant accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Perform month-end close procedures, including journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and resolved in a timely manner. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar
Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
Experience with Bank Reconciliations
Strong knowledge of General Ledger management
Proven ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries
Experience with Month End Close processes
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
