The Senior Staff Electrical Engineer will lead PCB layout design and custom component library development. This role will drive best practices in high-performance PCB design, optimize component library management, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance design efficiency and manufacturability. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in PCB design, signal integrity, power integrity, and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles.
This role is hybrid in Portage, MI with the expectation to come into the office 3 days a week.
What you will do:
Leading the design and development of complex, multi-layer PCB layouts using industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, and Mentor Xpedition).
Work closely with electrical engineers to translate schematics into high-performance PCB designs.
Optimize PCB layouts for signal integrity, power integrity, thermal performance, and manufacturability (DFM/DFT).
Oversee DFM/DFT (Design for Manufacturability/Testability) to ensure seamless transition from design to production.
Ensure library components meet electrical, mechanical, and thermal specifications, supporting lifecycle management and procurement.
Collaborate with internal teams for component selection strategies aligned with supply chain best practices.
Oversee ECAD tool implementation across the organization, coordinating training for users
Implement best practices for version control and database management for PCB libraries.
Participate in design reviews and failure analysis investigations, ensuring high-reliability PCB performance.
What you need:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
6+ years of work experience
4+ years experience in PCB layout design and component library development.
Working knowledge of Altium Designer, OrCAD/Allegro, or Xpedition
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience in the design of electronic/electrical systems, including PCB design/analysis and Design for EMI/EMC.
Experience in heavily regulated industries such as medical devices and aerospace.
Experience with Siemens Valor software
