The City of Lansing's Human Resources Department is seeking a full-time Health & Wellness Technician to join their team! This position functions as support/liaison to the Health and Wellness Administrator to assist with processing worker compensation insurance claims, evaluating accident reports, and ensuring FMLA documents are sent, received, and entered into the database. The successful candidate should possess excellent organizational skills, are attentive to detail, have good oral and written communication, and have effective time management skills.
This is a great opportunity for those who have extensive knowledge of office management systems and procedures, skills in interpreting FMLA and worker compensation materials, as well as the ability to navigate different software programs.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & TRAINING:
This position requires that the applicant placed be able to be bonded under the terms of the City's blanket bond. Therefore, applicants cannot have committed any dishonest acts, before or after placement in the position. Applicants must authorize the release of any information from appropriate agencies regarding the applicants' criminal history prior to being given referral consideration.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
High School diploma or GED
One (1) to Three (3) years of experience with FMLA processing, and/or worker compensation claims.
Previous HR experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS INLCUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Responsible for filing, creating correspondence, writing reports and tracking medical card certifications.
Maintains completed and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirement and city policies.
Retrieves source files and completes data entry into multiple spreadsheets.
Assist with scheduling pre-employment and Department of Transportation physicals.
Processes prescription safety glass requests from employee and supervisors and maintains the records.
Input Worker Compensation incident information in database.
