Worker performs intensive seasonal maintenance of apple orchard. Workers
typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination
of the following, mowing, weeding, thinning, pruning, tree training,
trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, harvesting,
packing and maintaining fences and farm buildings. May operate farm
equipment and other farm duties as assigned by foreman. May use hand
tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, electric pruners,
shears, and knives. Worker must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular
basis, extensive bending, stooping, lifting and stretching when
maintaining field, fences and buildings. All tools needed to perform the
job will be provided at no cost to the worker. Free housing to workers
recruited from outside the commuting area. Transportation and
subsistence expenses to the worksite will be provided or paid by the
employer upon completion of 50% of the work contract, or earlier.
Contract guarantees opportunity to work for at least 3/4 of the number
of the hours in the work days during the period of the contract,
beginning with the workers first day of employment. Employer will
provide transportation from the housing units to the worksite and return
each work day without cost to the worker. Provisions for weekly travel
to purchase groceries and other goods will be provided if needed at no
cost to the worker. Minimum of 1 month apple tree pruning experience
within last 10 years required.
