Description We are offering a contract-to-permanent opportunity in Napa, California for a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will be instrumental in managing and maintaining our financial records, including processing payments, tracking expenses, and ensuring compliance with our financial policies and procedures. This role is crucial for maintaining our company's financial health and ensuring we meet our financial objectives.
Responsibilities: - Manage technical accounting support duties, including preparation and maintenance of accounting records and financial transactions. - Handle accounts payable, including invoice processing, payment verification, and dispute resolution. - Support contract payment claims processing, ensuring compliance with agreements, and maintaining tracking tools. - Oversee accounts receivable, including receipt coding and journal entry preparation. - Track and reconcile deposit information from various sources. - Maintain and manage expense and revenue data in manual and/or automated systems. - Review and coordinate agency contracts, procurements and purchase orders to ensure policy compliance. - Periodically review General Ledger entries for accuracy and make correcting journal entries as needed. - Assist with the year-end closing process, including data gathering for annual reports and audits. - Provide technical accounting assistance, including routine correspondence and account status reports. - Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements, recommending procedural changes for efficiency and accuracy when necessary. - Provide technical assistance to the audit team during review processes. Requirements - Applicant must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar.
Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required.
Must have hands-on experience with Bank Reconciliations.
Proficiency in managing and maintaining the General Ledger is essential.
Candidate should have expertise in creating and managing Journal Entries.
Experience in Month End Close activities is necessary.
Familiarity with NetSuite software is desirable.
Knowledge of Oracle financial software is a plus.
Proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
Experience with SAP financial software is beneficial.
