Accounting Associate- Temporary/Hourly Position
Americas Society/Council of the Americas is seeking an Associate to work in its Accounting Department. This position must have a strong accounting background, with proven contributions in similar sized organizations, should be detailed-oriented and able to muti-task managing requests across various departments with in the organizations. It offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience while contributing to the mission of two leading not-for-profits organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily and monthly activity across all accounting cycles, including monthly closings and reporting.
- Prepare and enter monthly journal enteries.
- Assisting with the accounts payable cycle.
- Prepare and enter monthly monthly cash receipts and assist with the revenue cycle, including corporate memberships, sponsorship, and unrestricted anbd restriced gifts and grants.
- Assisting with analysis and reconciliation of expense reports.
- Preparing monthly bank reconciliations.
- Analysis of various balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Assist with preparation of various reqwuests for the annual year-end audit.
- Reconciliation of programs activites for the organizations.
- Othedr job duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications Include:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
- A minimum of 3+ years of related experience preferred.
- Excellent computer skills, especially with MIP Office (Excell, Powerpoint, and Word).
- Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and MIP Fund Accounting and Fonteva a plus.
- Strong attention to details.
- Ability to multi-task in a small department and work independently.
- Strong verbal, written and organizational skill.
- Fluency in Spanish a plus.
This is a temporary/hourly position offered for 6 month period. The pay rate for this position is $32 per hour. The work schedule for this position is 3 days a week in our NYC office with flexibility to select days worked( Monday throught Friday). Qualified candidates must be eligible to work in the United States to be considered.
