Overview:
Junior Electrical Engineer
KBR was selected to support the US Space Force/Air Force Research Laboratory's ASTRO (Advanced Space Technology Research and Optimization) contract to provide mission equipment operations, maintenance, and upgrades to the USSF's AMOS site in Maui, Hawaii. The AMOS site plays a vital role in national security by monitoring man-made objects in space and continuously developing next-generation capabilities to keep pace with an increasingly congested and contested space domain. This presents an incredible opportunity to push the boundaries of space and telescope technologies and have a direct impact on the USSF mission.?
Regularly interface with customers (civilian contractors, USSF, AFRL, and other governmental agencies) to provide technical support, process development support and operations/test planning support.?
Support spans planning, integration execution and feedback phases of the life cycle of Experiments, Tests & Demonstrations.?
Participates in technical studies in support of various SDA missions, to include studies and analyses, and review of technical documentation for AFRL and USSF.?
Responsible for study, design, specification, engineering, and services related to electrical and electronic systems including specialized sensors, telescope electronics and control systems, and ancillary systems, etc.??
Communicate the technical requirements of site missions, sensors, integration, and sustainment while identifying programmatic risk and risk mitigation strategies.?
Responsible for study, design, specification, reverse engineering, and services related to electrical and electronic systems including power supplies, generators, motors, power systems performance and control, cabling and wiring, circuit card assemblies, specialized electromechanical devices, etc. Devises and suggests new approaches to problems encountered . Conducts work requiring independent evaluation, selection , and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice and complex features such as conflicting design requirements, reverse engineering, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Position requires the ability to develop test plans and procedures for data collection and analysis to certify designs and proto@types to applicable standards to include Military Specifications related to air worthiness qualification. Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection , and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Must be capable of preparing subcontractor work requirements, as well as providing oversight of subcontractor performance and integrating work from multiple subcontractors. ?
Works with other AMOS Engineers to devise improvements and upgrades to increase mission readiness and effectiveness.??
Duties include working with an Engineering team to resolve problems with site equipment, as well as developing solutions to improve mission readiness and effectiveness of Site equipment. Works with other Site Engineers to plan, schedule, and conduct work using standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Develops solutions meeting established requirements and integrates work/systems from multiple AMOS Stakeholders. Position requires the ability to work with the Engineering team to develop and implement test plans and procedures for data collection and analysis to validate and verify system requirements are met. This [EE] takes a holistic approach to developing solutions, working with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance staff to identify integrated HW/SW solutions that meet the Government's needs. Additional responsibilities include assisting staff in identifying solutions to improve quality of services provided. This [EE] is a disciplined self-starter with strong organizational, time management, comprehension, and communication skills.??
Responsibilities :?
Collaborates with technical and programmatic experts to improve/develop electronic and control systems for mission equipment and data collection. This includes sensors, electro-optical, electro-mechanical, and control systems.??
Follows tailored Systems Engineering processes to document, and interface new equipment and/or processes.?
Works with an Engineering team to resolve problems with site equipment, as well as developing solutions to improve mission readiness and effectiveness of Site equipment. ?
Works with other Site Engineers to plan, schedule, and conduct work using standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.??
Develops solutions meeting established requirements and integrates work/systems from multiple AMOS Stakeholders.??
Implements and conducts tests for data collection and analysis to validate and verify system/mission requirements are met.?
Supports and conducts system trade studies to fine tune requirements or select the best option among many choices.??
Supports Government and contractor Engineering Boards and Working Groups as required .??
Assists team members in using Digital Engineering and MBSE to perform trade studies and assess expected system performance. Provides inputs to develop Cameo MBSE models of critical site systems and supports development of a site-wide MBSE model.?
Qualifications: ?
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering , Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electro-Optics, or related discipline from an accredited institution.?
Minimum of 2 year's experience working as an EE, with preferred total experience from 3-7 years.??
Working in a team environment and possessing good communication skills, both written and oral?
Developing and testing against requirements.?
Compiling and preparing technical reports?
Familiarity with applying standard EE practices in a research, engineering or developmental testing environment.?
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.?
Experience with developing and maintaining SEMPs, CMPs, ISPs, TRRs.?
Active Secret clearance, Eligibility for TS/SCI required ?
Desired Qualifications: ?
Master's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited University?
Proficient understanding and working knowledge of LabView/ LabWindows CVI, SolidWorks Electrical, NI Circuit Design Pro, power simulation software, and programming languages, Experience and knowledge of reliability, maintainability, and supportability challenges due to aging and obsolete components.?
Experience with custom electrical circuit board and component manufacturing and assembly?
Expert with electrical analysis and design tools?
Practical experience with electro-optical/electro-mechanical systems trouble shooting and maintenance systems?
WORK ENVIRONMENT:?
KBR supports work from home when compatible with meeting contract requirements . AMOS is a dynamic work environment and this contract supports routine operations of and maintenance of mission equipment, as well as the need to respond to real-world events. To the extent possible, schedules are forecasted in advance, but upgrades, maintenance or significant tests require personnel to be present in the telescope facilities on Haleakala. Candidate must have effective verbal and written communication skills; must be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences or facilitate group discussions; develop accurate written materials to communicate information clearly and concisely.?

Basic Compensation: ?
$ 90-125k
